Auto Pay

Overview

Auto Pay is a simple, hassle-free way to manage your payments. By enrolling in Auto Pay, you are allowing Alma to automatically charge a card on file for future sessions with your provider. 

  • Insurance clients have the option to enroll in Auto Pay by default. No further action is needed.
    • Note that FSA, HSA, and HRA debit cards cannot be enrolled in Auto Pay at this time. You can review options for using these benefits for Alma invoices in this Support article
  • For clients paying for sessions out of pocket, Auto Pay is dependent on the therapist’s individual policies. If Auto Pay is turned on, please follow the instructions below to enroll. If you don’t see these options, please speak to your therapist directly about enabling Auto Pay.

Enrolling in Auto Pay via email

If you are interested in enrolling in Auto Pay, ask your therapist to send you an enrollment email and complete the following steps:

  1. Open the email and click the “Enroll in Auto Pay” button
  2. Confirm your identity by entering your phone number
  3. Add your credit card information and click “Enroll” 
  4. Done! We will send you and your therapist a confirmation email

Enrolling in Auto Pay through an unpaid invoice

You can also enroll in Auto Pay the next time you pay an invoice online. 

  1. Locate an unpaid invoice in your inbox
  2. Confirm your identity by entering your phone number
  3. Add your credit card information in the payment portal
  4. Before you click the “Pay” button, select the checkbox that says “Enroll in Auto Pay”
  5. Done! We will send you and your therapist a confirmation email

Note: If you do not see a checkbox to enroll in Auto Pay on your invoice, this feature has been disabled by your therapist. Please talk to them directly about turning on Auto Pay.

What to expect after enrolling in Auto Pay

  • Your card will be charged for future sessions within 24 hours of your therapist submitting an invoice
  • You will receive an invoice receipt after every payment, including a downloadable version for your records
  • You and your therapist will receive a confirmation email each time you enroll or unenroll in Auto Pay 

Note: Enrolling in Auto Pay does not pay your outstanding invoices. You will need to submit payment for any outstanding invoices separately. To do this, select the “Pay Invoice” button on your most recent invoice email from Alma. 

Updating your card on file

You can edit or update your payment method by clicking the “update your card” link found in the Auto Pay confirmation email or any invoice receipt. If you’re having trouble locating this, search your inbox for the subject line “Your receipt from Alma.”

Unenrolling in Auto Pay

You can unenroll from Auto Pay at any time by clicking the “unenroll from Auto Pay” link found in the Auto Pay confirmation email or any invoice receipt. If you’re having trouble locating this, search your inbox for the subject line “Your receipt from Alma.”
